Tony Pulis admits he has to change the mentality at West Brom, with the former Stoke manager setting his sights higher than avoiding relegation

West Brom head coach Tony Pulis has confirmed he will hold talks with chairman John Williams over a new contract in the coming weeks.

The 59-year-old's current deal, which he signed in October last year, expires in the summer of 2018.

The Baggies are enjoying a strong season and are eighth in the Premier League table ahead of Saturday's game with Everton at Goodison Park.

Pulis said: "I'll sit down with John and have a chat. John's coming up to Everton this weekend.

"But there's no rush, there's no problems in anything that we do here. John keeps me in touch with the Chinese (owners) and what they're thinking.

Pulis says Romelu Lukaku is one of the Premier League's best strikers and West Brom need to stop him to get a positive result at Everton

"John talks to the owners about three times a week. There's good communication between them and I think Mr Lai and the Chinese contingent are over for the Arsenal game."

Last week, West Brom lost to Pulis' former club Crystal Palace, with whom he is still fighting a financial issue.

Pulis has taken another swipe at the Eagles - labelling them the league's "great underachievers".

"All the money they've spent, and the quality they have. You don't expect them to be in the trouble they are in," he said.

"They're the great under achievers in the league."
