West Brom manager Tony Pulis hailed left-back Allan Nyom after his side drew at Hull - labelling him a 'very good signing for the football club'.
Nyom joined the Baggies from Watford - West Brom's next opponents - in a £3m deal in the summer and has started the last eight successive Premier League games.
The Cameroon international impressed again as Michael Dawson cancelled out Gareth McAuley's goal to deny Pulis' side a third successive victory.
But the Albion boss, who once again urged the club's owners to spend on new players in January, said: "Allan has played well all season for us. He's a smashing lad and gets on with his job.
"He's one of the last to come off the training pitch and works very, very hard. He's been a very, very good signing for the football club.
"When you look at it, we can be a little bit disappointed we didn't win the game. But you've got to give credit to the lads. We've had 48 hours less to prepare for this game today and it's a long journey.
"So to get up and do what we did in the second half, after taking a blow halfway through it, shows the character of the players.
"The first half was really good and we should have created more opportunities than we did. They started the second half very well, put us on the back foot and had a couple opportunities, but I thought we weathered that while they got the goal.
"The great thing about this group lads is that they keep working and, in the last 15 minutes, we had Nacer Chadli's effort and the two headers at the back post, which are a little bit disappointing that we've not hit the target, which would have won us the game."
