West Brom manager Tony Pulis has revealed he wants to bring fresh, young talent to the Hawthorns this summer in a bid to add balance to his experienced squad.
Pulis and the club's scouts are set to scour the transfer market at home and abroad in a bid to bring fresh talent to the Hawthorns.
"I don't think the age mix is right at the moment," said Pulis on Friday ahead of Saturday's home game against Watford.
"We had a big meeting with the scouting chaps yesterday in respect of looking for younger talent. We have got to balance it a bit better than this year. I think we've got one of the oldest squads in the Premier League."
Albion have been stuck in mid-table for much of the campaign and Pulis remains keen to drive the club forward as he builds for next season, having already handed one-year contract extensions to experienced centre-backs Gareth McAuley and Jonas Olsson.
"With Jonas and Gareth now signing we've got a good backbone going into next season. Now we need to go for younger, more athletic, talented players, to go straight into the first team."
West Brom have six matches remaining this season and Pulis will discuss his recruitment plans with chairman Jeremy Peace after the final match against Liverpool at the Hawthorns on May 15.
"I'll wait until the games have finished and then sit down with the chairman," he said. "Obviously we'll prepare stuff in the weeks before. We are identifying players, what we need round the training ground.
"We've had a report done on the fitness, the running stats, what we're good and not good on, when we've picked up injuries, what we can do to improve pre-season. I've got all that data this morning.
"We're trying to push things on and grow the football club. Then we can filter the information down to the academy and they can work off that basis.
"We are looking at both domestic and foreign markets. I've got no qualm bringing in the right foreign players. If they have the talent we'll give them the opportunity."
