Pulis thought his side showed character in their 2-1 win over Arsenal

Tony Pulis hailed West Brom's win over Arsenal as a "massive result" as they came from behind to win 2-1 at the Hawthorns.

James Morrison cancelled out Olivier Giroud's opener before Mikel Arteta put the ball into his own net to give the hosts the lead before the break.

Santi Cazorla missed the chance to equalise late on as he slipped while taking a penalty, and Pulis admitted they had the rub of the green.

"It's a big result - we had some luck today, some good fortune," he said.

James Morrison believes securing the three points was the most important thing

"I think there have been games at our ground this year where we haven't had the run of the ball, things haven't gone our way.

"Today they did, but you've got to give the lads a lot of credit for the way they worked.

"Arsenal are a team I think have got as good a chance this year of winning the title as anybody else, so for us to get the three points, it's massive for us."

Before Saturday's victory West Brom had taken just four points from their six home games in the Premier League this season.

And Pulis knows the importance of turning it around as they look to put distance between themselves and the bottom three.

"We showed lots of character, and we're pleased," he said.

Matt Le Tissier analyses West Brom's 2-1 win over Arsenal

"We need to get the points on the board - it's a tough league and it's very tough when your home form has not been brilliant, which ours hasn't been, but we've played a lot of the top teams.

"I'm just delighted about the three points on the board, irrespective of whether it's Arsenal or any other team in the Premier League. Those three points are vital."
