West Brom goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard has joined Sky Bet Championship club Preston on loan for the rest of the season.

Lindegaard has only played once for the club since his summer move from Manchester United, and that appearance came in the Capital One Cup defeat by Norwich towards the end of September.

The 31-year-old has found himself third in the pecking order at The Hawthorns since Ben Foster returned to fitness, but could get regular starts with Preston, whose No 1 Sam Johnstone has been recalled by Manchester United.

Lindegaard will be available for Preston's next league game, against Derby County at the iPro Stadium on Tuesday week.

"The last couple of years have been a long dry walk in the desert and I need to get back playing and that feeling of happiness and enjoyment it brings with it. I have been really missing it, so I am really looking forward to this," he told Preston's official website.

"I am only here for six months at the moment, but you want to be part of an ambitious project and from what I have heard from the manager and other people at the club it is an ambitious project and that is a very good thing.

"It is nice to know people when you are getting a new place to work, but what really made the move was the enthusiasm about Preston I have received from both people inside and outside the club.

"Logistically it will be easier for me to work in Preston rather than Birmingham which is good, but the most important thing is the project and the right people, as well as getting back to playing football, which it is all about."
