Sunderland forward Duncan Watmore is set to be out for 10 months after suffering another suspected cruciate ligament injury.
Watmore was forced off in the 2-2 draw with Millwall on Saturday after picking up an injury to the same knee he damaged in December last year.
The 23-year-old is set to undergo surgery on Thursday if results of a scan are proved conclusive.
He only recently returned after nearly 10 months out after he ruptured the cruciate ligament in his left knee in 2016.
He returned to action on September 30 in the 2-2 draw at Preston and has made six appearances for the Sky Bet Championship strugglers this season.
Watmore suffered his original injury in his side's 2-1 win over Leicester City on December 3 last year.
Chris Coleman was confirmed as Sunderland boss at the weekend and will take charge of the side for the first time away to Aston Villa on Tuesday evening.
