Michael O'Neill has no interest in becoming Sunderland's next manager, Sky Sports News understands.
The Northern Ireland boss is believed to be flattered by the struggling Championship club's interest.
But the current vacancies with either Scotland or the USA are understood to be more appealing to the 48-year-old.
Sky Sports News revealed on Wednesday that the Scottish Football Association had made an approach.
O'Neill and his two Northern Ireland assistants - Jimmy Nicholl and Austin MacPhee - all live in Scotland.
But O'Neill has made no decision about his future but will weigh up all options after Northern Ireland failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia.
And there would be complications over the USA job, with the country unable to appoint a successor to Bruce Arena until the new presidential elections in February.
O'Neill is contracted with Northern Ireland until 2020 and the IFA are close to offering him an improved deal.
O'Neil has spent six successful years in charge of Northern Ireland, the highlight of which came when he guided them to the 2016 European Championships and then took them into the knockout stages.
Barnsley boss Paul Heckingbottom and ex-Rangers manager Ally McCoist are also understood to be in the frame to succeed Simon Grayson at Sunderland, but Heckingbottom confirmed on Thursday that he has not yet been approached.
