Sunderland manager David Moyes has requested a personal hearing following his FA charge for comments made to a reporter, say Sky sources.
Moyes was charged on April 26 for using remarks allegedly "improper and/or threatening and/or brought the game into disrepute" during an interview with BBC journalist Vicki Sparks.
The Black Cats boss was caught on camera telling Sparks she might "get a slap" for asking a question regarding Sunderland owner Ellis Short following a 0-0 draw with Burnley on March 18.
Moyes, who expressed his "deep regret" over the comments, had until 6pm on Wednesday to respond to the charge.
It is not yet known whether Moyes has accepted or contested the charge, although an independent commission will now consider the case.
The former Everton and Manchester United manager has vowed to remain with Sunderland following their relegation from the Premier League.
The Black Cats have picked up just six league wins all season but did beat fellow strugglers Hull 2-0 last time out.
Sunderland return to action with a home game against fourth-bottom Swansea on Saturday afternoon.
