David Moyes insists he wants to stay on as Sunderland manager and lead the club back into the Premier League.
The Black Cats' 10-year stay in the top flight came to an end after a 1-0 home defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday.
Moyes was appointed last summer and has faced criticism from some fans after just five wins this season.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the club's relegation to the Championship, he said: "I would like to make sure we get Sunderland back in the Premier League that's for sure.
"I think the job is to make sure we try to get ourselves prepared and ready. We are just in this position so to think about it now is too quick."
Asked what has gone wrong this season, Moyes added: "It's a collective from top to bottom, it would be wrong to blame any individual.
"But football clubs are much stronger than any one individual so Sunderland will bounce back, I have no doubt."
The Black Cats had their chances against Bournemouth but top scorer Jermain Defoe was unusually wasteful as he only hit the target with one of his eight shots.
Josh King then scored in the 88th minute to seal Sunderland's fate.
"If you look at the game, you would have to say we were really unlucky not to win it, let alone lose it," said Moyes. "We had numerous opportunities and it's a little bit the way we have been. Half opportunities we have been punished and we probably had five or six half chances to score.
"I feel for the supporters, they put their hard-earned cash into coming to support the team so my thoughts are with them."
