David Moyes speaks after Sunderland’s 0-0 draw with Tottenham

David Moyes has said he is pleased with a point from Sunderland's 0-0 draw with Tottenham and praised the attitude of his players.

The Black Cats secured a good result against the current second place side in the Premier League, and moved themselves off the foot of the table ahead of Hull's match with Manchester United on Wednesday.

After the game, Moyes expressed his satisfaction with the point that could be vital for their survival in England's top flight but urged his side to pick up all three points in the coming weeks.

"I'm really pleased to take a point tonight, I really am, it's a good point," he told Sky Sports.

"Obviously we need three points in all the games now so I can't be singing and dancing because of a point but against a good Tottenham team, it was a well-earned point.

"We contained them for long periods and we didn't give them too many clear opportunities. Their possession and dominance in the second half was hard to stick with so the boys did a really good job and they are doing everything they can to get the points.

"A couple of things fell nicely for us and we're hoping that we take one of them because let's be truthful, we're not going to get loads against them and we did a good job in trying to stop them as much as we could. We knew we would have to get one or two scraps and when we got them, I hoped we would take them but it wasn't quite to be.

"We were a threat in the first half but we always looked as if we could make something and in the main, I thought we contained them relatively well."

Sunderland are now four points from safety and also managed to keep a clean sheet, with Moyes full of praise for the commitment of his side since joining the club last summer.

"I've said ever since I arrived here and even in recent weeks when things have seemed hard, the results are not for the want of trying from the players," he added.

"It's not a lack of effort or commitment or their attitude, all of that has been good. It has been down to mistakes or down to a lack of quality and what we have to do is try and make up for that with a team spirit, a fighting spirit when we have to as well.

"Sometimes getting a point like we did tonight can be a good thing."
