David Moyes recorded his first victory as Sunderland manager with a 2-0 win over Stade Nyonnais on Monday.
Duncan Watmore's first-half penalty double sealed the landmark result as the Black Cats made it three wins from their three pre-season friendlies.
The Wearsiders continue their pre-season tour in south-east France against Dijon FCO on Wednesday before completing their preparations for the new season against Montpellier HSC on Saturday.
Moyes made a number of changes to the side that beat Rotherham 2-1 on Saturday, with Watmore leading the line, Jack Rodwell partnering Michael Ledger in defence.
Vito Mannone started in goal while Lee Cattermole returned to the starting line-up having missed out at the New York Stadium.
An entertaining game burst into life on 37 minutes when a misplaced defensive header looped over Mannone and the Italian was forced to tip the effort onto his own crossbar.
That moment kicked Sunderland into gear and they were ahead soon after when Watmore broke, won a penalty and dusted himself down to break the deadlock.
The referee pointed to the spot eight minutes later when George Honeyman was tripped in the box, allowing 21-year-old Watford to double Sunderland's lead from 12 yards.
Sunderland continued to control the game after the interval in spite of several half-time changes, with Mannone rarely tested during the early stages of the second period.
He did, however, have to be alert to deny Bunjaku Genthan and, after seven changes from the hosts, produced a fine save to keep Salihaj Besnik's powerful 20-yard strike out.
