Championship: New boss Gary Rowett urges Birmingham to 'move on'
Friday 31 October 2014 13:26, UK
Newly-appointed Birmingham boss Gary Rowett claims he has not spoken to his players about last Saturday’s humiliating 8-0 home defeat by Bournemouth.
The struggling Midlanders are second from bottom in the Championship table having recently sacked manager Lee Clark.
City have taken just two points from their last seven home matches and Rowett says bad results are something players must not dwell on if they are to regain their confidence quickly.
Looking back on the debacle against the Cherries last weekend, Rowett said: “Sitting on the sidelines, it’s a horrible feeling and there’s not a lot you can do about it.
“John Ward, an experienced manager, once told me ‘you’ve got to deal with it’ and the thing is you don’t keep mentioning it to the players.

“The more you speak about it the more it becomes a possibility that one bad result could become a habit by putting it in their minds.
“So I’ve not even mentioned it. It’s about moving forward and dealing with the next game.
“Often, when you have a bad result, the players do roll their sleeves up because they care more than some people think. But it certainly drains you a little bit.”
