Birmingham City failed in their attempt to sign Alex Song on Deadline Day.

The former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder was in the Midlands for talks but a deal could not be arranged, with Song unable to agree terms with his current club Rubin Kazan to leave on loan.

Song failed to establish himself at the Nou Camp, though, and spent the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons on loan at West Ham.
