Javi Gracia says he can take positives from Watford's last game of the season, despite losing 1-0 to Manchester United.

Javi Gracia believes he will still be Watford's manager next season after seeing his side beaten 1-0 at Manchester United on the final day.

With their Premier League survival already assured, Watford had little to play for at Old Trafford as they slipped to a fifth defeat in six on the road.

Having seen his side win just once in their last nine games, Gracia's future is uncertain, given Watford's hire-and-fire policy, but Gracia feels he has a good chance of remaining in charge next season.

"Yes, I think so," Gracia said when asked if he believes he will be kept on. "The club is ambitious and will try to improve.

"I don't know about the [player] movements in the future but I'm sure the mentality of the club of the owner is to improve the level of the team. In this period of being together it will be good for the future."

Watford did offer some threat as they went in search of a first away goal in eight games, with Richarlison missing the best chance of the afternoon.

"I think the last performance playing away, maybe we deserved something but we didn't take the chances to score," Gracia added.

"If you don't score it's very difficult to get any points against United, but we tried to the end and finished the season doing our best.

"It was the same situation when playing against Tottenham when Richarlison and Andre [Gray] had chances to score which we didn't take.

"I think we need to score first and after that I'm sure the team will be able to play with confidence and score another goal and win a game but at this moment it's very difficult for us."
