Watford boss Walter Mazzarri says his Watford side were "naive" after they lost 2-0 away to struggling Hull City.
The Hornets had a one-man advantage for over an hour of the game at the KCOM after Oumar Niasse was sent off 20 minutes before the break, but they failed to make Hull pay the price and inflict what would have been a damaging defeat on the home side.
The visitors seldom troubled Eldin Jakupovic in the Tigers goal and instead fell behind just after the hour mark when Lazar Markovic lashed home following a rapid break after a Watford free-kick was cleared. Sebastian Prodl went closest when he forced a smart reaction save from Jakupovic after Jose Holebas' corner, but Sam Clucas' stunner nine minutes later doubled the advantage and subsequently sealed three points.
Mazzarri looked visibly aggrieved in the technical area at times and revealed in his post-match interview that despite an even start, he felt his team were "naive" as they fell to defeat.
"Until we conceded, I wasn't disappointed with the performance. We were naive and we needed to play with our heads. We did create four or five chances to score and we should have scored.
"After we conceded the goal, we could have done better. We started making mistakes on the counter attack and I didn't like the way we played. From there [Niasse's red card] we dominated until we conceded the first goal on the counter attack.
"We need to work on some naivety and then we conceded. That is when I got angry - we need to improve. When you have four or five chances to score like that, you should score. In football you make mistakes but in the end you need to score a goal."
