Watford head coach Walter Mazzarri believes his side should have beaten Bournemouth but praised the work-rate of his team

Watford boss Walter Mazzarri was not impressed with Christian Kabasele's role in a goal which saw Bournemouth salvage a point.

Watford twice threw away a goal lead in an entertaining 2-2 draw at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday.

After giving his team the lead in the first half, Kabasele then went from hero to villain as he decided to lie down injured as Bournemouth attacked in the closing stages.

As it was not a head injury, Bournemouth were well within their right to play on and Andrew Surman picked out Benik Afobe, who moved into the space in behind Kabasele. The striker got the run on Younes Kaboul and fired a low shot into the far corner to level the game.

Mazzarri was left frustrated with Kabasele's decision to go down whilst the Cherries were attacking.

Bournemouth 2-2 Watford

"He's a very young player but he didn't think about it," said the Italian.

"He had cramps, he could have told me before and we could have done better, but I'm not happy with that situation."

A point did neither manager many favours as it stretched Bournemouth's run without a Premier League win to three matches and Watford's to seven.

Bournemouth enjoyed 63 per cent possession in the game and were undone by two set-pieces by Watford, who created little from open play. Despite not enjoying much of the ball, Mazzarri thought his team did enough to win the game.

"I think we lost two points. We deserved to win," said the Hornets boss.

"Two mistakes allowed them to score two goals, and in the second half we could have scored another one.

"We saw it again today, we lose some points for mistakes - we pay the highest price."
