Ben Watson has signed a one-year extension to his deal with Watford, tying him to the club until 2018.
Watson was a regular in Watford's midfield as they enjoyed a successful return to the Premier League, scoring twice in 41 appearances in all competitions.
The 30-year-old started his career with Crystal Palace and also spent six years with Wigan before joining the Hornets in January 2015.
Watson's new deal comes soon after his public backing for head coach Quique Sanchez Flores, who is leaving the club despite a successful season.
Watford are yet to announce a successor for the Spaniard, although Walter Mazzarri is the club's No 1 target, according to Sky sources.
"I thought he'd be up for manager of the year," Watson said of Sanchez Flores late last month.
"He's the best manager I've worked under. He's been fantastic this season, he's brought different ideas and him and his staff have been great."
