Watford have reiterated that their position regarding manager Quique Sanchez Flores remains unchanged, despite reports suggesting Walter Mazzarri is being lined up as a replacement.
Flores has enjoyed a successful first season at Vicarage Road, guiding the Hornets to a safe mid-table position in the Premier League and an FA Cup semi-final.
However, it has been reported that Watford's form over the second-half of the season is concerning Watford's owners and that they want to bring in the Italian Mazzarri, who has previously managed Sampdoria, Napoli and Inter Milan.
But, ahead of Wednesday night's game at Norwich, Watford told Sky Sports News HQ that the departure of Flores was far from certain.
"The position on the head coach remains the same," the club announced. "We are extremely pleased with the work of Quique and his staff and all of the players this season. Every objective set has been achieved.
"However, we still have two very important games to play. We have a meeting arranged immediately at the end of the season to discuss continuing the project together."
Flores has a break clause in his two-year contract which could be activated at the conclusion of the season.
