West Ham are in talks to sign Lazio midfielder Felipe Anderson, according to Sky sources.
It is understood that Lazio want €50m (£44m), which is much higher than West Ham's valuation of the player.
One source has told Sky Sports News that they are hopeful that a deal can be done but claims there is interest in the 25-year-old from other clubs.
The Brazilian, who has one cap for his country, joined Lazio from Santos for £6.75m in 2013.
He made 32 appearances for Lazio last season as the club missed out on a Champions League spot on the final day of the Serie A season.
Anderson has made 177 appearances across five seasons for Lazio, scoring 34 goals and providing 42 assists.
West Ham have already confirmed the signing of right-back Ryan Fredericks from Fulham.
