David Moyes insisted West Ham's performance in their 4-1 defeat at Swansea on Saturday was the "poorest" of his tenure to date.
The visitors travelled through the snow to South Wales in poor form having won one of their last six in all competitions, but things got worse at the Liberty, as West Ham were brushed aside with ease.
Two goals in each half helped Swansea climb above West Ham into 13th, leaving Moyes' men just three points above the bottom three, with the joint-worst goals conceded record in the Premier League.
"I couldn't assess the performance because it was that bad," Moyes told Sky Sports. "It is a big sorry to the supporters who travelled through the snow to get here today, and we let them down badly.
"The players were disappointed with their own performances. Since I have been at West Ham, it has certainly been our poorest performance.
"There was no intensity in the first half. We thought we were going to stroll around and knock the ball around at the back and not go forward with it and we got ourselves in trouble.
"We lost two goals from corner kicks and another to a penalty kick - so can we put that right? Yes, we can.
"I just hoped that the players out there would have taken more responsibility and dealt with the corner kicks and made sure they didn't lose their challenges.
"The West Ham supporters have been really good to me and the team, and today I am embarrassed by our performance. What we will do is get back on the training ground and make sure the players are at it. In the main we have done a lot of good things, but this was a low point."
The afternoon got even worse for Moyes when Winston Reid was stretchered off in the first half, leaving the Scot without a fit, recognised central defender.
"It was a bad one - he got knocked unconscious," Moyes added. I think he was unconscious before he fell. We are more worried about the second injury that he may have picked up in one of his knees.
"Until he is assessed we don't know any more. We are without four players who would have been in my team."
