West Ham have had a bid rejected by Anderlecht for midfielder Leander Dendoncker, according to Sky sources.

The 22-year-old has been tracked by several Premier League clubs in January, including Watford, but it is West Ham who have made the first move.

Dendoncker is an important player for Anderlecht, and has featured in 30 matches for the Belgian side this season.

West Ham have made moves for several midfielders in this transfer window - they have had bids turned down for Fulham's Tom Cairney, and have also shown interest in Everton's Morgan Schneiderlin as well as Ibrahim Amadou of Lille.

Dendoncker is comfortable playing in the centre of midfield or the centre of defence.

He has made four caps for Belgium, and will be hoping to be part of Roberto Martinez's squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
