West Ham are in talks to sign Abdul Majeed Waris from French club Lorient, according to Sky sources.
Sky believes the player is currently in London for talks with the Premier League club.
The 25-year-old Ghana international has been at Lorient for the past two years and is viewed as being a likely replacement for Diafra Sakho, who passed a medical at Rennes on Wednesday.
Waris, formerly of Spartak Moscow and Trabzonspor, can play as either a striker or winger.
The transfer window closes on Thursday.
