Marseille are preparing to make a third bid for West Ham's wantaway midfielder Dimitri Payet, Sky sources understand.

Talks on Monday, after a second offer from the French side of around £20m, failed to end in agreement over a transfer for the 29-year-old, who spent two seasons with Marseille before joining the Hammers.

Payet trained with West Ham's U23 squad on Wednesday, having worked one-to-one with training staff at their academy base in Chadwell Heath on Tuesday.

Former West Ham defender Tony Gale has told Sky Sports News that want away forward Dmitri Payet hasn't even been speaking to his own team-mates

The France international, who has turned down numerous offers from clubs in England and China, wants to leave West Ham and return to Marseille for family reasons.

But West Ham are believed to want at least £30m for their No 1 asset, with Marseille's previous offers understood to have been around £11m and £10m shy of that figure.
