Leeds head coach Neil Redfearn confirmed wants to keep midfielder Rudy Austin "at all costs" but has confirmed Jason Pearce could soon complete his move to Wigan.
Wigan have been reported to be interested in signing both defender Pearce and Jamaica international Austin and the former was not with the rest of the Leeds squad at Thorp Arch on Thursday for training.
But Redfearn still sees Austin as integral to his plans and told a press conference: "We've got a young squad and the good seniors we need to keep.
"Rudy has been in the side and, for me, he is not for sale, at all costs.
"We want to try and keep Rudy because you look at your (Lewis) Cooks and your (Charlie) Taylors and your (Sam) Byrams and your (Alex) Mowatts and you need your Rudy Austins in there to give them that lift and give them that experience.
"The point of the matter is if we are climbing and we are building then you keep your better players and you add better players to it.
"You don't let your better players go, simple as."
When asked if Pearce will sign for Wigan, Redfearn responded: "Perhaps. Obviously Wigan have shown a great interest in Jason and it might be that that's the case."
