Wigan have signed former Manchester United and Newcastle winger Gabriel Obertan until the end of the season.
The 27-year-old has completed a medical and signed a deal, subject to international clearance, following his release from Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala.
Former Manchester United reserve team boss Warren Joyce knows the player well after the Frenchman spent two years at Old Trafford.
"He adds great experience to the squad and offers us another option in the wide areas. He's a top professional with great quality," Joyce told the club's website.
Obertan joined Newcastle in 2011 and played 76 times before his move to Russia.
However, he only made eight appearances and scored one goal for Anzhi before his contract was terminated by mutual consent.
