Fulham are close to signing defender Marcelo Djalo from Spanish second-division side Lugo, according to Sky sources.
The 23-year-old centre-back is scheduled to fly to London to undergo a medical and agree personal terms this week.
Sky Sports News HQ understands that Djalo has been identified as a target by the Whites' statistical analysis team, which is led by director of football operations Tony Khan and his assistant Craig Kline.
And the club are pressing ahead with the move despite reservations from Fulham's coaching staff that Djalo would not be a worthwhile signing.
Barcelona-born Djalo has spent his entire career so far in Spain's lower divisions, firstly with Catalonian side Badalona and then Granada's B team.
He was signed by Juventus in 2014 but never made a first-team appearance, instead being loaned back to Granada B, then Girona and Murcia before signing permanently for Lugo last summer.
