Aymeric Laporte insists Manchester City's focus remains solely on their game against Brighton - and not whatever Liverpool do against Wolves.

The 1-0 win over Leicester on Monday night lifted treble-chasing City back to the top of the table, one point ahead of Jurgen Klopp's side with just one game of the season remaining.

They now know victory over Brighton on Sunday, live on Sky Sports, regardless of how Liverpool fare against Wolves, will see them become the first back-to-back title winners in a decade.

On the title decider, Laporte said: "We are focused on us. It is the most important.

"We have to win every single game and if we win the next game, we are the champions.

"So, focus on the next game and hopefully we can give the title to our supporters.

"It is the most important game of the year. We want to win this game and hopefully, it could be possible."

Take a moment to enjoy Vincent Kompany's goal from all the best angles

City's win over Leicester came from an unlikely source - captain Vincent Kompany's first goal of the season a stunning 30-yard strike 20 minutes from time.

Fitness issues may mean the 33-year-old is no longer a regular starter but Laporte believes the influence of the three-time title-winning skipper on the side shows no sign of waning.

"He is a guy [who is] very important for us, for the club. I think he gives us a lot of things. He is an example for us," Laporte added.

"We have to improve and keep working with him because he can give a lot and he is a very good guy on and off the pitch."
