Manchester City have opted not to pursue a new left-back this summer and will continue to back Benjamin Mendy, Sky Sports News understands.
Manager Pep Guardiola has twice said he has been considering signing a new left full-back, in part due to the number of injury problems suffered by Mendy since he arrived from Monaco in 2017.
Mendy has made just 14 Premier League starts across two seasons, having ruptured his right cruciate ligament in his first season and suffered subsequent meniscus problems in his left knee, which also required surgery, this term.
In January, Guardiola said: "We survived well last season, this season too, but we are thinking about that. I cannot assure you, as I'm delighted with the players I have, and at the end of the season we are going to decide."
And in March he said: "We are thinking about the chance to find somebody in that position [left-back]. There are three or four positions we have to try to look for."
But Mendy has since returned to the first-team fold, starting in the games against Brighton, Crystal Palace and Tottenham earlier this month, and it is hoped the worst of his injury problems are behind him.
Oleksandr Zinchenko has also deputised well for the Frenchman, while Danilo and Fabian Delph are competent in the left-back position too.
City are on the hunt for a new defensive midfielder to succeed Fernandinho, with Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas claiming this week they are among the clubs interested in Tanguy N'Dombele.
Sky Sports News reported in December that City's rivals Manchester United and Tottenham were among the clubs monitoring the 22-year-old this term and Aulas has since said Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus are interested, with his preference being to sell to Juve.
