Pep Guardiola would not rule out Jadon Sancho returning to Manchester City after his England debut

Pep Guardiola has not ruled out Jadon Sancho returning to Manchester City in the future.

Sancho, 18, was praised by England manager Gareth Southgate and captain Harry Kane after making his senior debut during the international break, which came off the back of six assists in just 215 minutes for Borussia Dortmund.

He joined the Bundesliga club from City in the summer of 2017, despite Guardiola's claim the Premier League club tried "everything" to keep him.

"There is an age when you cannot control them, and this can happen," he said ahead of City's game against Burnley this weekend.

Dortmund to target PL youngsters

Sancho signed a new contract to keep him at Dortmund until 2022, with no release clause.

But Guardiola believes the player could yet return to Manchester City.

"We know what we have done with Jadon, we wanted him, we did absolutely everything, he decided to go to Germany, so all the best," he said. "He's doing really well, hopefully he can achieve what he was looking for.

"It's a good sign for England players going there. It's so important for the future.

"I don't know, in football you never say no. When he decided to move from here it's because he doesn't want to be here. I don't think he's looking to come back here right now.

"Maybe in the future, new club, new manager, in football you never know."
