Pep Guardiola praised makeshift right-back Jesus Navas after Manchester City's 3-1 win over Hull on Saturday.
The Spaniard provided the cross from which Ahmed Elmohamady's own goal gave the hosts the lead at the Etihad.
He was a constant problem for relegation-threatened Hull and combined excellently with winger Raheem Sterling as Man City solidified their top-four credentials.
When asked how pleased he was with City's right flank, Guardiola said: "A lot. Jesus played really well in that position and he's a guy that attacks a lot.
"He helped us with the first goal and the second goal was on that side. Sergio [Aguero] helped us a lot to play. There were many, many good things."
Injury to Bacary Sagna and Pablo Zabaleta forced Navas into the right-back position against Arsenal on April 2 and he also filled in against Chelsea in midweek.
Guardiola added: "He can play that. In the last games he has played against Alexis [Sanchez], Eden Hazard and Marcos Alonso and he played really good."
Sergio Aguero doubled Man City's lead shortly after half-time and Fabian Delph grabbed their third before Andrea Ranocchia struck a late consolation for Hull.
The result keeps Man City in fourth, seven points ahead of Arsenal and Manchester United, although both clubs hold two games in hand in the battle for Champions League qualification.
"It was good result, the three points," Guardiola added. "We started good with the right attitude, the right way we have to play football.
"No complaints, of course Hull created one or two chances on the counter attack in the first half but in the second half nothing happened except the last-minute goal.
"It was in the last moments. We need to score goals and we conceded one because we defended poorly.
"The set-pieces, there was one corner and a second ball, and six players forgot to defend. Normally when this happens you concede a goal."
