Joe Hart will join Torino on Wednesday despite interest from Sunderland because he wants to play abroad, according to Sky sources.
Hart has arrived in Turin, where he will undergo a medical ahead of a season-long loan move to the Serie A club.
Sunderland - who have lost injured first-choice goalkeeper Vito Mannone for three months - were prepared to pay a large slice of his wages, but Manchester City have agreed to Hart's preferred option.
Hart, 29, lost his place as City's first-choice 'keeper at the start of the season, with new boss Pep Guardiola preferring Willy Caballero.
The arrival of Claudio Bravo from Barcelona last week makes the England man third choice.
Hart's agent Jonathan Barnett was quoted on Monday by www.tuttosport.com as saying: "Yes, Joe Hart will play with Torino. It's done. The player said yes to the club and also Manchester City have given the green light. It is all true. Tomorrow [Tuesday] Hart will have a medical in Turin."
Torino, who finished 12th in Serie A last season, have started the new campaign by taking three points from their first two games.
