Yaya Toure will miss the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid, says Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini.
Having picked up an injury during Saturday's win over Stoke, Toure had to sit out training on Monday ahead of Tuesday night's clash at the Etihad.
Speaking ahead of the game at Monday's news conference, Pellegrini said: "Yaya is going to be out, I think. He has not recovered from the muscle injury."
Toure was spotted limping towards the end of Saturday's 4-0 win, although he did manage to complete the 90 minutes.
And Pellegrini added: "I don't think he will be fit for Sunday (at Southampton), we will see how he improves during the week."
In the absence of Toure, Brazilian duo Fernando and Fernandinho are likely to team up in the centre of the City midfield against Real.
Pellegrini said: "The two Brazilian lads have played well when they have played together, and in Europe as well.
"For example against PSG (in the quarter-finals). I'm very confident in what they can provide."
Man City captain Vincent Kompany has struggled with calf injuries of late but, having been rested for the Stoke game, was able to take part in training on Monday, as was David Silva.
