Manuel Pellegrini says a draw was not a bad result for Manchester City

Manuel Pellegrini thinks Sergio Aguero is back to his best after the Argentina striker's two goals rescued a point for Manchester City at West Ham.

City were behind after just 53 seconds when Enner Valencia's shot beat Joe Hart from close range but they were back on level terms eight minutes later when Aguero, who also hit the post, won a penalty and picked himself up to score from the sport.

Pellegrini's men had to come from behind again after another goal from Valencia, and it was Aguero who steered a late equaliser past Adrian to score his 10th league goal of the season to rescue a point.

And Pellegrini was quick to praise Aguero, claiming he is now 100 per cent following a heel injury at the end of last year.

"He played very well," Pellegrini told Sky Sports. "He scored the two goals, he won the penalty, he had another shot that hit the post and he had a final chance which he shot straight at Adrian.

"I think he is 100 per cent now and you can see it in his performance."

There wasn't such good news regarding Vincent Kompany, who is currently sidelined with a calf problem.

He added: "Vincent has at least two or three weeks more so he's not able to work with the squad.

"When he starts working with the whole squad then he needs at least one week more to return."

Pellegrini's men moved up to second in the Premier League on goal difference following the 2-2 draw with West Ham.

However, they are now three points behind league leaders Leicester but the City boss was still happy with the draw despite wanting more from the game.

"It's not what we wanted before the game," Pellegrini said. "If you analyse the whole game I think we have two or three clear chances to score.

Jamie Redknapp and Stuart Pearce were both amazed at the poor defending by Nicolas Otamendi for West Ham's second goal against Manchester City

"We hit the post twice and had one clear chance at the end but it was a difficult game. It was a very close game for both teams and it was a good game for the fans," he added.

"The draw is not a bad result but it was not what we wanted before the game."
