Manchester City could lose Sergio Aguero and David Silva for several weeks after both were injured playing internationals.

Aguero's hamstring injury, suffered during Argentina's World Cup qualifier against Ecuador on Thursday, has been diagnosed as a grade-two tear - an injury with a typical recovery time of between two and eight weeks.

And as City were taking in that news Silva was limping away from Spain's European Qualifier against Luxembourg after just nine minutes.

A statement from Spain later confirmed his injury as "a bad sprain of the internal lateral ligament of the right ankle" and said he would definitely miss next week's game against Ukraine.

And City's website quoted a report in Spanish newspaper AS ruling Silva out for "at a guess, two to three weeks."

Spain and Switzerland won to stamp their tickets for France next summer.

Even a timescale of two weeks' recovery time would leave both players struggling to be fit for the season's first Manchester derby, live on Sky Sports on October 25.
