Jonas Gutierrez was the Newcastle hero as his goal eased their nerves and confirmed their Premier League status for another season.
The 31-year-old, who returned to action this season after a battle with testicular cancer, scored with just five minutes remaining on what could be his final game for the club.
It was a massive relief for Newcastle, who secured their top-flight status and ended up finishing 15th in the table.
Gutierrez celebrated in spectacular fashion after netting his late goal on an emotional afternoon at St James' Park.
