Newcastle are considering a move for Crystal Palace left-back Pape Souare, according to Sky sources.

Rafa Benitez is keen to bring in competition for Paul Dummett and wants to sign Kenedy from Chelsea.

Souare is understood to be another option and one of a number of players on the Spaniard's list of targets.

Souare - a 27-year-old Senegal international - has struggled for first-team games this season, making only three appearances.

He played in the recent FA Cup defeat at Brighton, which was his first appearance since October.

His previous season was hampered by a road traffic accident that left him with a broken jaw and thighbone. Soare did not make an appearance for the rest of the season after the incident in September.
