Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tiote has joined Chinese League One side Beijing Enterprises Group FC.
The 30-year-old had been linked with a move to Super League side Shandong Luneng, a deal that would have seen him join up with former United player Papiss Cisse and ex-Southampton striker Graziano Pelle
But Tiote has instead opted for a lucrative move to the Chinese capital on a two-year deal, the player's agent Emanuele Palladino has confirmed to Sky Sports News HQ.
The Ivory Coast international made the move to St James' Park from FC Twente for £3.5m in August 2010 and played more than 150 games for Newcastle, with his deal due to finish in June.
Tiote has only appeared once in the Sky Bet Championship this season for Rafa Benitez's side, however, with his last appearance coming in the 3-1 win over Birmingham in the FA Cup on January 18.
He joins a growing list of players who have opted to try their luck in China, with former Chelsea players Oscar, Ramires and John Obi Mikel, as well as Carlos Tevez, having all made the switch.
