Aston Villa have signed defender Kortney Hause on loan from Wolves until the end of the season.
Sky Sports News understands the deal includes an option for the Championship club to buy in the summer, a clause Villa's CEO Christian Purslow insisted upon.
Purslow did not want another club to benefit from any improvement, or improved value, that Villa might add to the player.
Hause signed for Wolves in 2014 from Wycombe Wanderers, but has not forced himself into Nuno Espirito Santo's long-term plans.
The 23-year-old has not featured in any of Wolves' Premier League games this season although he has played in two Carabao Cup ties.
Aston Villa head coach Dean Smith is keen to strengthen his defensive ranks and had been interested in Tyias Browning at Everton.
"We're very pleased to have brought in someone with Kortney's quality," Smith told the club's website.
"With experience of playing at this level, he'll be an important addition to our defensive options."
Aston Villa are 10th in the Championship and five points off the top six ahead of Saturday's trip to Wigan.
