Aston Villa have signed 17-year-old defender Jacob Bedeau from Bury on a two-and-a-half year deal.
Despite making just seven appearances for the Shakers, Bedeau is highly rated and sources indicate Villa have agreed to pay £600,000 plus add-ons to sign him.
Speaking earlier this week, Bury head coach Chris Brass revealed negotiations had been ongoing for some time.
Brass told The Bury Times: "They have got to where our expectations are and they have done their homework, as you would expect from a club of their magnitude.
"The deal has not just happened overnight. It has been ongoing for a while.
"You have to make sure it is in the best interests of Jacob and the football club. He is going to be a fantastic player."
Bedeau told Villa's official website: "This is such a massive opportunity for me at such a young age. I'm looking forward to taking that opportunity and developing even more at such a big club.
"I'll always be grateful to Bury for giving me a chance so I would like to say thank you to them and wish them all the best for the rest of the season. I can't wait to get started at Aston Villa."
