Aston Villa have accepted a £6m transfer bid from Middlesbrough for striker Rudy Gestede, Sky sources understand.

Steve Bruce confirmed at the weekend that negotiations had taken place and he was expecting to lose the centre-forward in the January transfer window.

A medical could take place inside the next 48 hours if the sticking point of personal terms is overcome.

Villa bought Gestede, 28, from Blackburn Rovers in July 2015 for a fee of £6m.
