Aston Villa defender Joleon Lescott has joined AEK Athens on a two-year contract, with the Greek club confirming the deal on their official twitter feed.
The 34-year-old had one year left on his Villa deal but having not featured this season under manager Roberto Di Matteo, he has decided to leave the club and makes the move to the 11-time Greek champions on a two-year deal.
"Certainly I want to win trophies with AEK. I've done it in the past and want to continue," he said. "It is a great opportunity and challenge for me to be eligible to win titles. I would not be here if I thought it was a risk coming to Greece."
Lescott, who twice won the Premier League at City, made 30 Premier League appearances last season as the West Midlands club were relegated to the Championship.
But he angered many Villa fans after he tweeted a picture of a Mercedes before claiming it was an accident, later claiming relegation was a "weight off the shoulders" of the players.
Lescott began his career at Wolves before joining Everton in a £5m deal in 2006.
A successful three-year spell at Goodison Park attracted the interest of Manchester City and he subsequently joined them for £22m in August 2009, winning the FA Cup and League Cup (twice) in addition to the two league titles.
He subsequently joined West Brom on a free transfer in 2014 before moving the short distance to Aston Villa a year later.
