Remi Garde was satisfied with Aston Villa's second-half performance against Leicester on Saturday as Rudy Gestede's 75th minute equaliser earned his side a point.
The substitute canceled out Shinji Okazaki's first-half strike for the Foxes who return to the top of the Premier League table as a result of the 1-1 draw at Villa Park.
Leicester's Riyad Mahrez could have given his side a two-goal advantage had he netted from the penalty spot, but his effort was saved by home keeper Mark Bunn.
Villa remain nine points from safety and Garde told Sky Sports News HQ: "We showed good quality in the second half.
"The first half we were not at the same level as we had shown on Tuesday (in the win over Crystal Palace.)
"We came back well in the second half and to score against the leaders is positive for a team at the bottom of the table.
"We were more aggressive, more positive, more attacking. And if you look at the game there was not such a huge gap, as you see on the table.
"I have the feeling if we had played like this from the beginning of the season then they wouldn't be bottom.
"We have 16 games to play and I feel we are capable of doing something."
The Villa manager also felt his side were denied a penalty of their own on the hour mark when Robert Huth appeared to catch Libor Kozak with an arm, but the referee allowed play to continue.
Garde added: "Of course it was a penalty. It was obvious for me and probably to everybody."
