Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti has admitted the club are "evaluating" Tottenham's Kieran Trippier as a potential summer signing.

The England right-back has struggled to recapture his best form for Spurs this season after a stellar World Cup, while manager Mauricio Pochettino wants to "rebuild" his squad this summer - and says it will be "painful".

Sky in Italy recently reported that Trippier was of interest to Napoli as well as other Premier League clubs ahead of the upcoming transfer window and Ancelotti has confirmed he is a name on their list along with PSV's Hrving Lozano.

In his pre-match press conference, ahead of Napoli's Serie A clash with Cagliari on Sunday, Ancelotti said: "All I can say is that they're both [Trippier and Lozano] players we're evaluating.

"So, to be honest, I can only confirm our appreciation of the player. Now we have to start proceeding with the analysis."

Trippier signed for Tottenham for £3.5m when Burnley were relegated in 2015 and has made over 100 appearances since, establishing himself as first-choice right-back following Kyle Walker's move to Manchester City.

Spurs have since signed Serge Aurier and seen the emergence of youth talent Kyle Walker-Peters in that position, but Trippier had maintained his place as first-choice in a superb 2017-18 campaign leading up to the World Cup.
