Mauricio Pochettino was delighted with his side's response

Mauricio Pochettino said Spurs' 4-1 win at Bournemouth was the "perfect answer" after their devastating midweek Champions League exit.

Spurs came from a goal down to stroll past the Cherries, thanks to Heung-Min Son's double, but have an injury worry after Harry Kane went off with an ankle problem with his side 1-0 down.

Pochettino said he is concerned by Kane's injury - a similar one kept him out for nearly two months last season - but praised his side's character in fighting back.

Bournemouth 1-4 Tottenham

Pochettino told Sky Sports: "It was the perfect answer after a massive disappointment against Juventus. We concede the first goal, but I think the team was better than Bournemouth, and the attitude was great.

"After Wednesday, it was a massive challenge, the opponent is waiting for you, but the team showed great personality and character, and we fully deserved the victory."

Pochettino was once again full of praise for Son, who hit his 17th and 18th goals of the season.

"I think he is having a fantastic season, the best season since he arrived. I'm so happy, very pleased, because he helped the team to achieve these three points and put us in a good position in the table."

Spurs jumped into third place above Liverpool after their 2-1 defeat at Manchester United on Saturday, but Pochettino is wary that the race for the top four will be tough in the handful of remaining games.

He said: "I think the target is to finish as high as possible, the possibility to fight until the end for one position. But it will be tough because there are massive sides fighting for the same positions.

"It's a massive three points. We knew that the team was going to show the character and the personality after Wednesday. It's nothing new for me, I believe, really believe in the squad and players

"I'm so happy for them, because we needed this, and so happy for the fans."
