Toby Alderweireld is doubtful for Tottenham's trip to Crystal Palace live on Super Sunday after picking up a fresh knock in training.
The Belgium centre-back, who remains in protracted talks over a new contract at Spurs, will require a fitness test on Saturday to see if he can train with the rest of the squad after being unable to finish Thursday's session.
Alderweireld has not played a Premier League game since October, having spent several months out with a hamstring problem, despite declaring himself fit in January.
He has played in the FA Cup but was not picked for the Champions League trip to Juventus, when boss Mauricio Pochettino was forced to defend the club's handling of his comeback.
Ahead of their visit to Selhurst Park live on Sky Sports, Pochettino said: "Only Toby yesterday didn't finish the training session. He suffered a small incident in the same leg.
"We will assess him today and tomorrow and see if he can train and be available for the weekend. We hope it's not a big issue. Until tomorrow we cannot decide nothing.
"It was just, I think, for caution that he didn't finish the training session. It's the same leg but a different area. I want all the players fit and I hope to help Toby to be available for the team."
Fresh reports on Friday claimed Spurs are willing to sell Alderweireld, whose current deal expires in 2019 but contains a year-long extension, after reaching a stalemate over his wage demands.
But Pochettino refused to discuss discussions over a new deal that have been going on for a year and yet to reach a conclusion.
"I am not involved in negotiations," Pochettino said. "I never talk about rumours or what the media says happens around the club. Its not my job. I can say nothing about that."
