Harry Kane says he felt inspired after meeting Diego Maradona and hopes to learn from him to become the best player in the world.
Maradona was at Wembley on Sunday as Kane scored twice in Tottenham's 4-1 win over Liverpool in the Premier League.
Kane and goalkeeper Hugo Lloris joined Mauricio Pochettino to talk to Maradona before the game.
Maradona won the World Cup in 1986 and achieved four league titles across spells with Barcelona, Napoli and Boca Juniors at club level.
The Tottenham striker has scored 45 goals in 40 games for club and country in 2017 which rivals the levels of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
"At some stage I want to be the best player in the world and to do that you have to be up there with these players," Kane said.
"They set the standards, Ronaldo and Messi, so for the rest of us it's about trying to catch them and get up there."
Kane added: "[Maradona] is one of the best number 10s ever, so it was great for him to be here today (Sunday against Liverpool).
"It was great to be in the company of someone like that. What a player he was and I can only learn from someone like him."
Pochettino told Sky Sports: "Harry Kane is a fantastic player, he is one of the best strikers in the world. It is difficult to find words to describe him."
