Eric Dier says Tottenham must continue to heap the pressure on Premier League leaders Chelsea by beating Bournemouth at lunchtime on Saturday.
With seven games remaining, Spurs trail the Blues by as many points and Dier realises the title remains Chelsea to lose.
However, the midfielder understands the importance of getting three points on Saturday when they face the Cherries - live on Sky Sports - as victory would cut the gap to four points ahead of Chelsea's clash with Manchester United on Super Sunday.
The 23-year-old said: "It is always nice to play first. Hopefully we can narrow the gap to four points and then hope for them to slip up."
He added: "It isn't a case of 'we've lost it' but it's a case of Chelsea have done extremely well themselves and went on that amazing unbeaten run.
"As a season, we've been consistent and going into the last period now we've been impressive and want to try and keep that up."
Spurs go into the match at White Hart Lane having lost just once in the league since December.
