Jan Vertonghen could find himself in hot water after appearing to scratch Jay Rodriguez's face during Tottenham's 4-1 win at Southampton.
Dele Alli struck twice as Spurs battled from a goal down to beat 10-man Saints in the Premier League clash at St Mary's on Wednesday night.
Southampton started the game on the front foot and took an early lead through Virgil van Dijk when he headed home a James Ward-Prowse free-kick.
Tottenham were struggling to deal with the home team's early pressure and their frustration was clear to see when Vertonghen became involved with Rodriguez following a Saints counter attack.
A ball in from the left was cleared by Vertonghen, who collided with the Saints striker. As Rodriguez tried to move away from the Spurs defender, he was caught in the face by Vertonghen's hand.
Replays suggested the Belgium international defender may have scratched his rival during the coming together.
The referee missed the incident as his back was turned, as did both managers.
The FA could now take retrospective action against the Tottenham defender.
