Championship strugglers Bolton Wanderers have parted company with manager Neil Lennon by mutual consent.
Former Celtic boss Lennon departs with the Trotters bottom of the table, 11 points adrift of safety, and academy boss Jimmy Phillips will take charge on an interim basis.
A club statement read: "All at Bolton Wanderers would like to thank Neil for his contributions during his time at the club."
Bolton have won just four of their 37 Championship matches this season and suffered their 19th defeat of the campaign when they lost 2-1 at home to Preston on Saturday.
And Lennon now leaves having won just 18 times in 80 matches in total, although he has had to deal with significant off-the-field distractions this season.
It has been a period of financial turmoil at Bolton and the club has been in the High Court this month, securing a third stay of execution when faced with a winding-up petition from HM Revenue and Customs.
However, the Sports Shield consortium subsequently completed their takeover and new chief executive Dean Holdsworth says the finances are in place to ensure Bolton's survival.
But Holdsworth, a former Wanderers player, offered no assurances over Lennon's future, and the 44-year-old manager has lost his job following a seven-game winless run which has left the Trotters needing a miraculous revival to avoid relegation to League One.
