Everton officials were in Turkey on Friday night in an attempt to finalise a deal to sign Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun, Sky sources understand.
Reports from Turkey say a deal is expected to be completed by Tuesday and Sky Sports News understands the fee will make Tosun the most expensive Turkish international to leave the Super Lig.
Besiktas' media spokesperson Metin Albayrak said "there is no offer for Tosun" after the club's cup game on Thursday, in which the striker scored before appearing to wave goodbye to fans after the full-time whistle.
But it is understood the 26-year-old forward has met with Everton and the two clubs are now looking to agree a fee and complete the deal.
Sam Allardyce has already confirmed that Everton will be actively looking a new striker in the January transfer window.

German-born Tosun was attracting interest from Crystal Palace, with the club seeing an £18m bid rejected by Besiktas, according to Sky sources.
Besiktas president Fikret Orman told Sky Sports News in November that he had no reason to sell Tosun in January, and it would take an offer above £20m for the player to leave the Turkish champions.
Tosun has scored four Champions League goals this season as Besiktas qualified for the knockout rounds of the competition for the first time.
